The Fascination About The Simple Things
As I'm writing this post, I can't help but to crack a smile. I'm watching my youngest daughter play this game called Roblox on the desktop computer while looking at videos on YouTube on how to create characters, build homes and trade with other players on the game. I smile because it reminds me of times back when I was her age and playing video games. I never wanted to get off the video game. I would play for hours on end, just practicing new moves, losing a life or "losing a man" on my Nintendo or Sega Genesis. I can't remember which one, but all I know is I would become immersed in it. I would be devoid of all time around me. It was fun times. I actually picked up a game controller a couple months ago for nostalgia sake. 17 hours later, I finally beat God of War for the 3rd time.
I'm more fascinated by the idea of my youngest being as extremely focused as I was, and as my other daughters are. My middle, E is laser-like as well with her focus. Once her mind is set on accomplishing something, there's no stopping her. Last year when she was a junior in high school, she made the declaration she was going to lead the yearbook group for her senior year. She began campaigning for it and was so focused on getting it, it was damn near handed to her. She is enjoying every minute of it, too. Of course there are some hiccups here and there, but when you're the boss, it comes with the territory. And I couldn't be any prouder. With my oldest, Nanna, she wanted to get a new car. She was very specific on what she wanted. I, like any concerned parent, wanted her to get something cheaper thats good on gas and reliable. But nope, she wanted what she wanted. She eventually got the dream vehicle she wanted. And it was effortless.
It's that focus. Sometimes, (especially nowadays because of everything that's going on), I feel a lot of people have lost the art of focusing on what's important to them for the moment. People have gotten so involved with nonsensical bullshit, it's to a point where they forget about what matters most. The things that matter most, you must focus your attention on them. Don't allow outside forces or outside circumstances distract you from what your goals are. If you have some goals, go back to them. Don't deviate from them. Regardless of what's going on, the goals you have set for yourself were placed there for a reason. It would only be right to see them through.
Stay focused, my friends.
